We’re beyond excited and proud to announce that we’ve just made history at the Holland’s Got Talent Finals!
This achievement is not only a milestone for us as a team, but also a major moment for the African dance scene. To have African street dance celebrated and recognized on a national tv/stage is something we’ve all been working towards, and it’s incredibly meaningful for the entire community.
This victory is the result of years of dedication and persistence. Long before World of Afro became a recognized name, our founder and director Precious Alvares was working her way here in the Netherlands at a time when there was little to no presence of African street dance styles.
There were days when only three students attended her classes, and some days no one showed up at all. But Precious continued to push forward, overcoming obstacles and refusing to give up. With each setback, she stood back up, building something truly meaningful piece by piece.
This journey from small classes to winning on the grand stage of Holland’s Got Talent is a testament to resilience, passion, and the strength of our community.
From our first audition to receiving the Golden Buzzer and securing a spot in the finale, we’ve brought culture, our passion, and our dedication to every step. This final performance was our way of honoring the African dance styles that have shaped us, as well as the countless hours of hard work that went into each piece. Every move told a story, and every beat resonated with the spirits.
The support from the Holland’s Got Talent judges was a huge motivation for us.
After our final performance, judge Edson Da Graça said, “Ongelofelijk! You surprised us again with something different, and it’s still World of Afro. But today, what I saw was that everyone knew the mission. The looks on your faces from the very beginning had me thinking, ‘Oh-oh!’ Your dance is so rich, so dynamic… you are amazing!”
Chantal Janzen added, “I’ll keep it brief. In my opinion, this is one of the best dance groups, the best dance group of recent years.”
Dan Karaty responded to Chantal, saying, “That’s a big statement! But deserved because I feel like it would’ve been very easy for you guys to come out here and just give us a hype, energy-filled performance. But you brought more. Everybody went wild!”
As we look to the future, we’re excited to keep building on this momentum and share more of our vision with the world. We are actively searching for a dance studio to continue our work and expand our creative reach for future productions.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us on this journey. Your encouragement has pushed us forward, and we’re honored to share this historic moment with you all. This isn’t just our victory; it’s a win for the African dance scene as a whole. Let’s keep raising the bar and inspiring the next generation!
We are beyond thrilled and proud to announce that we’ve made it to the finals of Holland’s Got Talent! Competing in the semi-finals was an incredible experience that pushed us to new heights. The overwhelming support and positive feedback we received has only fueled our passion and drive to keep going. Every moment on that stage was filled with dedication, heart, and our deep love for dance.
Our semi-final performance was inspired by the powerful rhythms and movements of Angolan and Nigerian dance styles, bringing these rich cultural influences together in a unique way. We were honored to perform to beats produced by the talented Ajimovoix Drums from Nigeria and Black Fox from Portugal, capturing the authentic energy and vibrancy of these styles. Sharing this journey with everyone has been an unforgettable experience, and we’re grateful for every cheer and message of encouragement.
Now, as we prepare for the grand finale, we’re keeping our plans under wraps – but we promise it’s a show that will be worth the wait. Thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way. The best is yet to come – see you in the finals!
Dancers Review:
“It was amazing to go straight to the semi-finals after receiving the Golden Buzzer. As a group, we already knew which performance we wanted to bring to the semi-finals, allowing us to focus and really take our time to refine the choreography and intentions behind every move. During the semi-finals, we were able to rehearse thoroughly, and our performance was rock-solid. This secured us a well-deserved spot in the finals.“ — Charsy
“The semi finals finally arrived! After all the waiting, we got to shine on stage again and show, why Edson gave us his buzzer during the audition. I felt good, feedback that was received was positive and the atmosphere was great. When all the acts had been, all the participants had to gather on the stage so we could hear the results together. I barely believed my ears the moment Dan called out the name World of Afro. Are we really going to do this? Straight to the finals? THE FINALS! Crazy.” — Shadia

We are thrilled to announce that we’ve made it through the first audition round of Holland’s Got Talent and received 4x Yes and the Golden Buzzer from Edson Da Graça! 🎉 Our performance earned a standing ovation and incredible feedback. Edson commented: “It is amazing to see everybody’s different identity in the dance with this crazy energy!”
With the Golden Buzzer, we automatically made it to the semi-finals, and we can’t wait to show viewers what we’ve been working so hard on.
For this upcoming show, choreographer Precious Alvares has envisioned a sharper and more powerful look, the complete opposite of the chilled vibe she wanted to portray during the audition. She can’t reveal too much just yet, but we promise it’s going to be a mind-blowing performance! Stay tuned!
